This is my favorite of the Mario games. I've played a few Mario games growing up, including Super Mario Brothers and Mario Paint. But of the Mario games I played, I found I enjoy Super Mario World the most. I forget why I liked it so much, but even nowadays I find myself having fun with it.
When I was a kid, my sisters and I used to participate in it as often as we could. We loved that game and were always disappointed when we had to stop playing it. I also recall how we'd get into fights over lives, and would steal each other's extra lives. Thinking back, that was pretty funny.
I loved Yoshi and I enjoyed riding on him all the time. He just made things easier, especially with the ability to walk on those pesky black flower things (I don't know what they're called). And of the Yoshis, my favorite was the blue one because he could fly!
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play it much on Super Nintendo because of a storm that fried the chip, so the game retains information only a few minutes after the game is shut off, forcing you to start over every time you play it. Thankfully, my brother purchased it on the Wii, so now we can play the game and not worry about our entire game's progress being erased...because that really sucks, when you lose your entire game data in a matter of minutes.
One time, I played Super Mario World for many hours and had cleared every single level except for one secret area I was trying to get to. And I lose my game data by turning it off. I remember being so pissed about it. Oh well, at least we have a copy on the Wii now.
