I never read The Lord Of The Rings all the way through. I believe I started reading it, but I didn't have time to finish, and never got around to. Plus this was during school when I really didn't enjoy reading all that much.
However, there was one book I remember reading and liking eventually. And that was The Hobbit. Quite a long read (thought Lord of the Rings beats the pants off of it in aspect of length) and I recall not enjoying it at first (since I hated reading at the time) but starting to like it as time went on. I was a slow reader so it took me several weeks to read it.
But now I don't remember much of the book, but that isn't too surprising. I haven't read it in years and we never owned a copy. The only parts I really remember is part of the scene with Gollum and that dragon with the one vulnerable spot.
I may go see the movie adaptation of The Hobbit. I've seen an animated version many years ago and recalled liking it. And it would be the first time I saw a Lord of the Rings movie (after all The Hobbit takes place in the same world just an earlier time) from start to finish.

The animated hobbit movie of the 70's is the first time I heard of jrr Tolkien or middle earth. Then I saw the animated return of the king. I read the hobbit book and liked it. I read it several times, though it's been many years since I read the book last. I eventually was able to read the lord of the ring books and other middle earth books like the silmarilian, and the unfinished tales.
